The main masses of air, in which we shiver or sweat, are either tropical or polar and either continental or maritime.
Continental Tropical air shimmers over the deserts of Africa, Arabia, northern Mexico, and, in summer, the American southwest up into the Great Plains. The temperature is scorching, and because it is so dry, “the skies are not cloudy all day.”
